- In the type of appointment and location section choose ‘Transfer of Ownership' as shown in the following photo.
- In the same section you also need to choose the location and enter the vehicle VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) as shown below:
- The next section you need to enter your first, middle and last name as shown below:
- Add your phone number to receive appointment reminders via text. Use only numbers, no + or country codes. You can also add your email, but it is optional. As shown below:
- Next, you need to confirm that the data you added is valid, as shown below.
- Finally submit your info after checking them
- You will receive a confirmation message with the date of your appointment. Consider that this appointment is only valid for 7 days from the day you receive it, and only if you enter a valid vehicle VIN number.
Second Step: finish the transactions in the General Traffic Directorate:
Once your appointment is reserved, follow the bellow mentioned process;

You will need the following documentation to finish the vehicle transfer process:
a) Provide the vehicle registration document (original and copy).
b) Iraqi Nationality Certificate or the Unified National Card (original and copy).
c) Residence Card (original and copy)
d) Ration Card (original and copy).
e) Make sure that the Periodic Vehicle Inspection (PVI) and the vehicle identification test are up to date. If not, you need to do both tests, which will have a total cost of 25,000 Iraqi dinars. - You and the new owner of the vehicle should be present at the General Traffic Directorate with the documents mentioned above to register your fingerprints.
Note: The registration process requires both persons to be at least 18 years old. - If the vehicle is registered under a company, you will need to ask the company to assign a lawyer to handle the vehicle registration process. The lawyer must also be present when taking fingerprints. This process may cost between 100,000 Iraqi dinars and 150,000 Iraqi dinars, depending on the agreement with the company.
- Then, you need to get the vehicle transformation form and attach it with the documents mentioned above. the estimated cost for this process is 6,000 Iraqi dinars.
- Then go to the computer room with the new vehicle owner to pay the fine for the vehicle.
- Submit your file to the officer with your old vehicle registration documents for the final check.
- The new owner will receive the new vehicle registration card with their name within one hour or more of submitting the file for review.
Note: Residents of the KRG region have the right to own a vehicle, apart from taxis, if they possess a residence card or proof of residence.
